Choose your makeup by the same three rules as clothing — undertone, depth, and clarity — with less margin for error because the colour sits on your face. Your color analysis result includes specific shades; this guide explains the logic so you can shop for yourself.
Lipstick
Undertone sets the family. Warm seasons wear coral, salmon, brick, warm red, and golden nude. Cool seasons wear rose, mauve, raspberry, berry, and blue-red. Neutrals can wear a soft “your lips but better” rose either way.
Depth and clarity set the intensity. Light seasons wear tinted, sheer versions; deep seasons can carry a full wine or true red; muted seasons want a slightly greyed shade (think “dusty rose” not “hot pink”); bright seasons want the clean, saturated version.
Blush
Blush is a smaller version of the same choice. Warm: peach, apricot, warm terracotta. Cool: cool pink, rose, soft berry. Keep it in the same depth as your lip — a deep berry lip with a pale wash of blush looks unbalanced.
Eyeshadow
Warm seasons: bronze, copper, warm brown, olive, gold. Cool seasons: taupe, grey-brown, plum, slate, cool silver. For an everyday eye, stay within one or two steps of your own eyelid colour; save the contrast shade for the outer corner.
Liner: deep Winters and Bright seasons can wear true black; everyone else usually looks softer in brown, bronze, or grey-brown.
Metals
- Spring, Autumn: gold, copper, bronze
- Summer, Winter: silver, platinum, white gold
- Neutral: rose gold bridges both
